September 24, 2015 - Miki Nguyen joins board of Vietnamese Friendship Association. VFA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1978 to help Vietnamese refugees and immigrants adjust to life in the US after the Vietnam War. The organization offers ESL (English as a Second Language) courses, employment, and citizenship services. VFA's vision is to advance equity in education, foster civic engagement, and advocate for Vietnamese and other refugee and immigrant communities. VFA envisions a society where all members of the Vietnamese and other refugee and immigrant communities have the social, economic, and political power to succeed and to contribute to the betterment of our world.

(Tentative) Miki wil appear on the TV episode of the Travel Channel's "Mysteries of the Museum." Filming will begin in October and will eventually air in early 2016. The center piece of the story will be around the shadow-box that Miki made for his father's retirement in 2001, containing the actual shorts and shirts that his father wore when he ditched the Chinook helicopter at sea. |
